Analog Devices' MAX25262/MAX25263 converters are integrated high-side and low-side switches

Image of Analog Devices' MAX25262/MAX25263 Synchronous Buck ConvertersADI's MAX25262 and MAX25263 small, synchronous buck converters with integrated high-side and low-side switches are designed to deliver up to 2 A/3 A with 3.5 V to 65 V input voltages while using only 3.5 µA quiescent current at no load. They feature a 20 ns minimum on-time capability, enabling large step-down conversions in a single stage without skipping cycles. A max duty cycle of 98% and low high side FET ON resistance enable a low dropout operation for low input voltage applications.

The voltage quality can be monitored by observing the PGOOD signal. The device offers fixed output voltages of 5 V and 3.3 V. In addition, the device can be configured for 1 V to 20 V output voltages using an external resistor divider. The frequency is internally fixed at 2.1 MHz, which allows for small external components, reduces output ripple, and guarantees no AM interference. A 400 kHz option offers minimum switching losses and maximum efficiency. For high light load efficiency, the IC enters skip mode at light loads when FSYNC is pulled low. A pin-selectable forced pulse-width modulation (PWM) mode is available for the EMI-critical applications. The IC comes in a symmetrical flip-chip package that offers superior EMI performance. Further, the pin-selectable spread spectrum helps to enhance the EMI performance.

The MAX25262 and MAX25263 evaluation kits (EV kits) come fully assembled and tested. The EV kits demonstrate the MAX25262 and MAX25263 synchronous buck converters. The EV kits operate over a wide 3.5 V to 65 V input range. The MAX25262EVKIT is populated with the MAX25262AFOA/VY+, and the MAX25263EVKIT is populated with the MAX25263AFOC/VY+. The EV kit output voltage is fixed and easily configured with minimum component changes. Other converters in the family can be tested on the same EV kit; however, changing the IC or the output voltage may also require changing other components.
